Hello everyone. My name is Alesa. I'm from New Orleans,LA. I'm 33 with two kids, daughter,8 and son,2. I'm still a little new to the "dialysis thing". Here's my story in a nutshell: Felt "yucky" in Feb., was diagnosed in March, catheter placed in March, started PD in April, and here I am, still lost, confused, stressed, and a bit "sick" of the whole thing!! So any help, advice, or words of wisdom are greatly appreciated and much needed.

Alesa875 welcome to IHD. You are new to this whole dialysis thing. I suggest reading this website, especially the PD part. Actually PD works really well. I'm sure you are a busy mom and this dialysis thing doesn't help. Hang in there.

Welcome Alesa! You have found the perfect place to land in your time of confusion! Being diagnosed and getting your catheter placed all in the same month must have been really difficult. I was diagnosed in 1994 and didn't have to have a fistula placed until Sept 2007. I can imagine your brain was spinning!
Reading the posts here will both comfort and empower you. You will find SO MANY useful tips, hints, suggestions, and most importantly answers. There are no stupid questions! Give your kids a big hug!
Are you going to test for "the list" and/or a living donor? I look forward to hearing you story in more detail later.

Alesa. You've found the best site for both information and support so as Rerun said so well...Read...Read...Read. Also ask any specific questions you may be wondering about if you can't find an answer.

Welcome to our community, Alesa! This is a very good move - joining our IHD family
This is the place for information, support and even some fun. Feel free to vent, rant, rage or rave when you need to. here is a group of people who fully understand all that you are going through. So, as many have counselled you already, read as much as you can. But also post as much as you can. The support here is awesome, if we know what you are going through.
A special welcome from a sister in the Caribbean.
