I need to let out some steam, alot of steam. Two things have really tick me off today. I am a easy going person that, well, can find something funny in any situation. I have worked for the railroad for the last 14 years. The income is pretty good, in 2007 when i found out i had esrd, i only worked until the month of June, and I grosses 57,000. In this 14 years of employment i have paid a great deal of taxes, the average railroader pays about 15 to 16 thousand a year. Well since i am on medical leave and collecting disability My health insurance for my self is carried for two years from my last day of work. For my wife and our children it only carries for 1, so their insurance is up come Jan. 1st. So my wife applied for some state assistance for our kids. They said I make to much money, and that i would need to purchase insurance on my own. WTF WTF, yes my disability is more than what ssi pays but how do they think we can afford those kind of payments. My wife has never worked, no i cant say that because she raised our kids while i was away at work. But my gosh, how many people did i support with my taxes and now that i need help they tell me no. The next thing, and this one is a bummer, when i applied for the disability i had to fill out a w-4 for my tax withholding. My disability was going to be taxed just as if i were at work. While come to find out, they never entered it into the computer. So come Feb. i will owe taxes on 35,000 dollars. WTF WTF Wtf, i have other words but i don't want to get banned from here. I think they need to forgive those taxes cause i wasn't the idiot who didn't  put it in the system, maybe they should pay them. Sorry if I bored yous just had to let out alittle.

Our goverment at its best Run.

I also have paid into the system my whole life since age 18.  I lost a job once and had to jump through hoops to get unemployment i have paid into for so many years.
Luckily i got a job within a week and never collected any monies.

I think the main problem here is many people like us actualy WORK for a living.   It is the slackers who seem to get everything handed to them so easily.
I wish you luck with your insurance can you get a temporary cobra coverage?

as for the Taxs.  isnt that embezelment on your companies part?

I hear you Run8.  I have to pay taxes on my disability also.  None was held out and so come April I'll see what the bill is.  Doesn't make any sense.

Maybe I don't have all the information to make a proper reply, but I do not pay taxes on my SSDI. I do not even have to fill out a tax return, but have to for financial aid purposes for college and state programs. I would try to find out more from the state Medicaid office, from someone who is in charge to set the record straight. You may just have o wait till your wife and childrens insurance runs out in January to refill out the Medicaid. They should have given you a program that listed discount insurance programs for low income or people with limited insurance, but that could just be how my state does things.

I would be ticked off too with the way they helped you. Like Medicare, you may have to fight to get assistance. Have as much information regarding your medical to give to them when filling out forms.

Don't give up, FIGHT!

What state are you in Run8, I can try to look something up.
