me and my donor Joyce

Has anyone had to have a cortizone shot in the hip?  I have had lots of pain in my right hip for the past few months.  We did an MRI and... well... my hips are jacked up.  He wants to do a cortizone shot in the hip first to see if it will stop the pain for a while.  He said in the NEAR future I will need a hip replacement and ev3entually will need both replaced!  UGGHHH!  I am going to put it off as long as I can because I want to be further out in my TX before I have any surgery.  I did talk to my TX coordinator and he said my Dr. will switch me from Rapamune to Prograf for a few months so I can heal better.

Anyways.... just wondering what kind of pain I am looking at for the shot.

My hubby had shots in his hip. It helped for awhile - he eventually did have a hip replacement.
I have had injections in my shoulder and elbow (which is not as difficult finding the right spot) and it helped the pain immensely.

I sure hope it helps for a while!  I just cant stand this pain!!!  I do want to put off surgery for as long as possible.  Did your husband have one or both hips replaced?  What kind of recovery time am I looking at?

I had a cortisone shot into my shoulder in August.  The shot was given by a PA at the Orthopedist's office and it did not hurt at all.  I had heard many folks say "Oh no, not a cortisone shot," so I was expecting the worst.  It really helped.  Best of luck with it Donnia.
