Hi there everyone my name is Beck I am from Bunbury, Western Australia. I am 35 years old and have been on PD for about a month now. I was diagnosed in 2005 when I was 9 weeks pregnant and was told that I should terminate my pregnancy and never have children - Bit of a shock(understatement). I was referred from the IVF clinic (more dropped like a hot potato) to the maternity hospital in Perth. They told me the same thing and advised that I could lose the baby or I could die or both of us. I has a few tears and then decided that was doing me no good and being me phoned the Dr and told them to give me all the assistance I needed and we would see how it goes. Dr Eyore (as we nicknamed her) told me I would be lucky to get to 24 weeks. Little did she know - we got to 30 weeks and were admitted to hospital and then waited until 36 weeks and then finally I had a perfect little girl Miss Kelsey Joy on April fools day 2006 (I couldn't have had her any other day lol). Unfortunately the pregnancy took its toll on me and when I was released I had eclampsia and fitted at home my poor long suffering husband thought he had lost me - no such luck. I was lucky to have no futher problems only blood pressure until Jan 08 when my blood pressure skyrocketed and I was advised to go on a pre dialysis diet. That is fun isn't it!!! So I had my PD cathertor put in on 03 October and have now started home PD through Fresenius. They are a nice mob the nurses are great. I was cruising the net while being hooked up and discovered this site and have now decided to join and say Hi.

Welcome to our community, Beck! My heart was warmed by your intro. Aren't you glad that the "professionals" don't have the last word! I am so happy that you now have you little apple of the eye! I am glad that you found us. You are going to find that this place is addictive - there is information, support, fun,and a place to vent, rant, rave or rage as you need to. In fact, we consider ourselves as family here. As you have heard we even have a goodly group of Aussies here. I myself was born under the Union Jack (Barbados, now living in the British Virgin Islands) so we have something in common. At least cricket!!! Please keep reading, and above all, keep posting. Go to our family section and post more picts of your little miracle. Bajanne, Moderator

Beck That a girl--way to show the doctors. I wonder how they ever get anything right. When a mom's adrenaline gets going nothing can stop her. So glad it all turned out well. Hope your dear husband has recovered. Bless his heart. Glad you found us and became part of the family. Normie Mother of 6
