I have been reading here for quite some time now and figured it was time to introduce myself. I am 5e0 years old and live in Wasington state. I was diaginosed with diabetes thirty five years ago. I had a hard time dealing with it and often did not control my diet as well as I should have. I have been paying for that the last ten years. Foot amputation, nerve damage, partial blindness, heart problems, and for the last year kidney dialysis.  Lastr May I went into cardiac arrest while at dialysis. My dialysis unit is in a hospital so I was quickly revived and outfitted with a defibrilator/pacemaker. It stills scares me to think what could have happened if I had been driving home when it happened. Anyway I am determined not to let a lack of knowldege hurt my health again so I come here to learn what others do to cope. Be talking to all of you later.

                                  :thx;

Welcome to IHD. Your intro rings true to me. 53 years old, partial eye blind in right eye, right foot gone, nerve damage, high BP. anyway, glad you are here and look forward to your posts.

Welcome to our community!  I like it when people who have looked around for a while introduce themselves.  It means I don't have to sell you on our site!  A lot of us are like you and can say sadly "If only I understood then, what I know now!!" where control of diabetes and/or hypertension are concerned.  Anyway, we have been given a second chance.  And this site is quite a place to assist us in  doing the best we can to manage our present health situation.  We are more than a forum, we are a family  :grouphug; caring and sharing.  So keep reading and keep posting.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Yosho, welcome to IHD.  Since you have been reading for awhile, you already know what a great site this is.  Best on the internet.  You certainly have been through a lot and I am sure you have much to share with us.  I hope you post often and share some of your experiences.   :welcomesign;

I am a caregiver to my predialysis mother. She has a graft but numbers are still good. She is also diabetic and keeping her blood sugar low these last few weeks has been a challenge. She used to be low! Very hard to manage diabeties. I pray you will maintain your health now. Lots of information and support on this site.
