A clot

I tell ya...it's always something.

I had to start hemo because of a tunnel infection in my PD cathather. I ended up getting a hemo cathather. Well...after 2 weeks of use I seem to have a clot. They ended up reversing my lines and I did dialysis as usual. I have dialysis this afternoon and if the clot is still happening then what do they normally do to treat it?? 
One of the nurses talked to be about participating in a study for the drug Tenecteplase. I don't know if I want to do that.
Has anyone else had to deal with clots in their cathather??

I have.  They put some medicine into my catheter which had to be in it for about an hour before they start your treatment. (Not fun when your time is at 5am!)  They "thought" it was a clot, may have been, but I needed it replaced about a month later anyway cause the hospital hadn't put the cath in deep enough.

I hear ya! The doc last night at dialysis said that I would have to get my hemo cath replaced. They reversed my lines again. I did get excellent clearance and the doc said if I keep getting good clearance with my hemo cath for a couple more weeks they would just go ahead and replace it with my new PD cath.

Hopefully it all works out that way. I am not gonna say anyting, I am going to stay positive.

yea mine were always reversed (on both caths).  I guess my body is just backwards.   On my fistula, I always bleed more out of the opposite hole of that everyone else does.  (Venous not arterial).
