Hello People!
I'm a female, 55, and live in Texas... although born/raised in Minnesota. I've had bad kidneys since I was about 10, which turned into only 1 functional kidney, which declined after each of 2 pregnancies. I feel I did pretty good making the one last until now actually.
I had my PD catheter put in 3 weeks ago, and I start my training on January 5th. Here we go!
Thanks for all the info here.

Where in Texas? I'm in San Antonio. Welcome to IHD! I wish you all the luck with your PD training. You will probably learn more valuable information on this site than from your trainers! Read as much as you can and ask as many questions here before you go to your training. You will feel more confident and empowered! I look forward to hearing more from you! Let us know how it goes!!

Thank you for the nice welcomes everybody!
For those of you in Texas, I live in the Willis/Lake Conroe area. I used to live in Katy, and I LOVE visiting San Antonio.
I've been reading up on the different dialysis options for about a year now, knowing that it was coming. I have to say though, that I just discovered this site, have been reading some of the posts regarding the PD, and I have already learned things that I didn't know! I know that I'll be visiting here often... thanks all.

Hey G-Ma Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you with a dual retinal hemorrhage back in 2005. which rendered me legally blind. After the Lord sent me an angel (my retinal surgeon)for laser and a lens replacement in both eyes I have my sight back to some degree. I too can see fairly well at a distance and have trouble reading. The longer I try to read the worse it gets. I started Dialysis on march of 2007 with in center hemo. Made the switch to CA\PD in Aug of this year. Again switched to CC/PD in October. Just thought Ide say Hello as it looks like we share the same experiences.
