Now we are officially scheduled for Nov 5th transplant!

I called and confirm we're scheduled! I'm super nervous! I saw my Neph today and he cleared up some questions. He had no idea they only did living donationson the first Wed. of the month. He thought that was weird. I wonder if it's a new policy or something? He said that he was going to release the chair for nocturnal dialysis that he was reserving for me. I told him not to release it until Nov 5th! I said "what if something happens with the cross matching? What if we have to delay transplant due to one of us getting sick or something? Apparently, Dec and Jan have already been scheduled! He agreed to hold the chair! I love my Neph!

Kelly, How is your "to do" list coming along? Don't worry about too much. And,please let people help if they offer. Did you decide to get a recliner? I am marking the days off the calendar till you get that healthy kidney. At 7% function, you are really going to feel so much better after the 5th. I am so very excited for you.

We went to Lay-Z-Boy today, but nothing under $400. I'm willing to pay $400, but those weren't the ones I liked. The big squishy chairs I liked were closer to $700. My husband for some strange reason is not a fan of the recliner, so he's not interested in spending any money to get one. He actually found one on Craigs List! It was discusting! I've seen some dumped on the side of the road that were equivalent!
I'm going to check Wal-Mart and The Room Store before putting this idea to rest. Plus, I was testing out the ones that have the little wooden lever on the side so that I'm not pushing the leg rest up. I have to lean way over to even get a hold of that lever. That concerns me. Maybe I'll find a nice big chair with an ottoman. We have one that matches our furniture, but sometime in 2006 we broke down and gave the chair to the dogs. Having their own chair kept them off the couches.
Even though I've been going through things and trying to throw away stuff I never use or that is truly trash, I have still not gotten down and dirt with the cleaning. I'm waiting until after the crossmatching on Wednesday, plus I'll wait until we're a little closer to the 4th.
I've decided to make a couple of items for my sister-in-law and her husband, like a big pan of lasagna and chicken tetrizine (spelling?). They can eat those for at least a week when she comes home.

Kelly, I bought my husband a "zero-gravity outdoor mesh recliner" to sit in after his nephrectomies and he used it all the way through the period of healing from the transplant (which was much shorter). He would nap in it pretty regularly. The only thing he found is that he had to lean back a little bit to get into the chair in the first place because of the angle of the lower section. With a regular reclining chair you would be able to drop almost directly down into the seat.
It looks just like the one in the link, but I bought it at Target on sale for about $65. Now everyone uses it out on the porch.

For the chair, you could try Costco or Sam's if you have one around you. They sell big cushy leather recliners for a very reasonable price. If you don't have a membership, many times they'll let you look around in the store to see if it's worth buying a membership. For me, the $40 annual fee is worth the money I spend there.
