This is my first posting. I am a male in my mid to late fifties and was diagnosed with mgn nearly 10 years ago. Six months ago my kidneys had deteriorated to such a degree that my specialist determined it was time to go on dialysis.  I decided to try PD as it seemed to provide enough flexibility to enable me to continue working.  So far it has gone well and two months ago I was given a cycler machine so I am now dialysing at night. I'm writing from New Zealand and I have to say it was very reassuring to find this website and learn that dialysis isn't the end of the world.

Hi Miker, we are glad you joined this great site.  There are many members here that are on PD.  It seems to be a good choice for many.  Do you like the cycler?  Hope it continues to go well.  Looking forward to hearing more of your story.  :2thumbsup;

A bit belated welcome to our community, Miker!   We shared three things in common - born under the Union Jack (Barbados, now living in the British Virgin Islands), born in the 50's (the last of the good people, a friend of mine says) and this renal challenge.  now there is a fourth - we are members of the IHD family! :grouphug;   So glad that you found this site.  It will one of your weapons in this fight.
I have a New Zealander friend.  She sent me a book ' the Real Middle Earth' with astounding pictures of your islands.  And I thought I was in a picture perfect setting!  New Zealand is tremendous!  It's a pity I won't get to see it this side of the Millennium!
Please keep reading, keep asking questions, and keep posting.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
