How is everyone doing today? Well, let's see where to start. I am 43 and have been on dialysis for almost 4 years now. I was born with prune belly syndrome so my kidneys never fully developed from birth. I had my fistula put in my wrist when I was 12 years old and was on dialysis for 2 and a half years till the age of 15, that fistula is still working today. I had my first kidney transplant at 15 but that only lasted 3 years , being a kid your not fully aware of the consequences of cheating and not listening to doctors,, at least I wasn't. At 18 I had my second transplant and that lasted 21 years, both were cadaveric. I hope to meet a lot of nice pople on here that know what I'm goig thru and who will let me rant and rave about dialysis when I need to. I will definetly be here for all of you, if ever you need an ear or a sounding board, fire away.

Prune Belly Syndrome
Dialysis first time = 12 yrs old to 15 yrs old
first transplant = 1981, 15 yrs old, lasted 2 1/2 years
second transplant = 1983, 18 yrs old, lasted 21 years
Dialysis second time = Dec 6, 2004 to current
My own personal quote "I need dialysis to live, I wiil not live for dialysis"

Welcome kidneyguy!  You've come to the right place!  Congratulations on a 21 year kidney transplant!  That is great!  Sorry to hear you're back on dialysis.  I'm sure you will have lots to offer this wonderful site!

Feb 13, 2008 - Activated on "the list".
Nov 5, 2008 - Received living donor transplant from my sister-in-law, Etta.
Nov 5, 2011 - THREE YEARS POST TRANSPLANT!  :D

Welcome to our community!  I am taking it that the hello is for me as well, even though I am not a transplantee (just kidding)  We are glad to have you here with us.  You have much to offer many of us here since you have seen about every side of this renal challenge.  What we have to offer you here is a genuine international family, with all the support we can give you. :grouphug;  So keep posting.  check out the various sections - you will have much to add to the transplant section.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Uninterrupted in-center (self-care) hemodialysis since 1982 -- 34 YEARS on March 3, 2016 !!

No transplant.  Not yet, anyway.  Only decided to be listed on 11/9/06. Inactive at the moment.  ;)
I make films.

Just the facts: 70.0 kgs. (about 154 lbs.)
Treatment: Tue-Thur-Sat   5.5 hours, 2x/wk, 6 hours, 1x/wk
Dialysate flow (Qd)=600;  Blood pump speed(Qb)=315
Fresenius Optiflux-180 filter--without reuse
Fresenius 2008T dialysis machine
My KDOQI Nutrition (+/ -):  2,450 Calories, 84 grams Protein/day.

Hi Kidneyguy,  It is great to have you here.  You just found the best site on the internet for kidney patients.  We really care about each other and give each other great support.  And we all love a good rant!!  There is so much information about almost anything kidney related.  We share lots of tears here -- both sad one and ones of joy.  Looking forward to hearing more about your journey.  21 year transplant!  :2thumbsup;   You give us all hope!   I am sorry it has failed. Welcome to IHD.  I look forward to hearing more about your experiences with the transplants (I had one at 26 after 5 years of home hemo and it lasted just over 23 years).  I'm back on hemo now but going through the donor business now for hopefully a second transplant.

Great intro BTW.

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges
