I can fly!!!

« on: July 05, 2008, 12:20:46 PM »

Otto's normal Tech is on vacation and Yesterday the "floater" left Otto on 30 mins longer then he needed but the best is his arm, it's bruised from his elbow to his arm pit. I am so pissed he said the guy used a bigger needle then normal and he was digging around. Otto's not the type to complain but I'm pissed, he even tried to use Otto's catheter and Otto was like how could you forgot you just used it on Weds and how can you miss my fistula it's huge :banghead; So this guy better hope he's not there on Monday  :boxing; :Kit n Stik;

Every tech should have their own arm infiltrated once, as standard training procedure. Then they'd truly understand what trauma and pain it causes.
I never really understood until I was donating platelets, and the tech said my arm pain was "probably because you're moving around too much" - which I wasn't. Finally she checked under my arm and it was eggplant purple. Luckily I have a choice about not going back. Sadly Otto doesn't, but I would raise hell.

How horrible Lola.  I'm not saying that everyone should do it, although I really believe that most of us could, but this is precisely why it is so crucial to me to stick myself.  The ultimate in consistency, no stress over my favorite nurse being off, no stress about unknown techs if ever I travel somewhere and the focus helps to distract from any pain.  My arm is purple from elbow to armpit too but the infiltrations were my own and were due to the newness of the fistula.  They both happened after about an hour on the machine.

Please make sure (as if I don't already know this is a given) that that tech gets some more training but also that she doesn't go near Otto again.

 :boxing; :boxing; Well Otto's "normal" tech was back and was SHOCKED at how bad his arm is, so she was extra gental today. Also a call was going to be made about the "floater".

Lets just say someone won't be sitting for a while(hehehe) :boxing; He also will be doing some training since not only did he bruise Otto's arm but he left him on the machine 30 mins longer then need be. I told them even though Otto's tech is back I need to watch out for others who will come across this Idiot. Otto only has 2 more in center treatments and then he starts training for Nxstage Monday :bandance; :bandance;
