Hi guys

I have a fistula in my right arm. and i tend to keep my arm as still as possible during dialysis, but wriggle my fingers ever so often. otherwise they start going numb.

but in the past 2 weeks i have developed a very sharp pain in my right hand. the pain is on right side of the hand below my little finger.
its so bad i cant close my hand and make a fist. the hand is not swollen and there are no signs of bruising. its feels like a nerve pain

anyone experience this problem...

I have had the same pain, same hand. For me (after 2 years of it) found, if I rest my arm in a position where my elbow is NOT on the arm rest, I don't have pain. I hope you find a way to ease your pain too, nothing worse than sitting 4 hours with any type nerve pains.

Yes, this affected my whole hand one time and the center said that was called "steel syndrome" or steels??? and since this last fistula its the same as you described and I put a cushy small rolled up blanket or a very soft pillow under my elbow and forearm so none of the bones rest on a hard surface or pinch off any circulation and I have had no problems.

I get weird twinges as well. Also, if I sit with my elbow resting a certain way my entire have will go numb/asleep within two mins. Its really bizare and rather annoying. I started to bring a pillow in and ever since, it has been fine... my elbow joint gets sore but thats from holding so still for four hours!
