Hello,
I work for a company that designs and engineers dialysis machines, they are located all over the world. I am not a patient and work in a branch office. I have been reading posts on this site since I started with this company when Epoman was still with you. I have learned more about dialysis from this site and its family than I have in any other  sense. I have felt wonderful in getting to know alot of you from your posts and have been very sad at the so many losses you have all suffered. I think this is a wonderful and most informational site, I hope nobody minds if I continue to read and maybe post a few suggestions of my own now and then. Thanks for all of your input. You are all wonderful people.

 :welcomesign;  harley08, PLEASE post often.  We love input from everyone. As you can tell, this is a great site.  We support each other and it makes a difference to know others understand what you are going through.  We also have fun with each other.  This is my second family, my safe place and I am grateful for the site.  Looking forward to hearing more from you.  I am sure we can learn much from you. :grouphug;

Harley, Welcome to IHD.  Yes, please continue reading and post if you feel the urge.  I'm sure your input would be valuable.  I wish I knew how my machine worked better.  I did Home Hemo 20 years ago on an old Drake Willock and I knew it inside and out.  But not these new ones.
I'm glad you enjoy our site and please tell all the people you know on dialysis about it.  (well, you may not see too many where you work)

Welcome, Harley. If you don't care, I'd like for you to design me a new dialysis machine. I want it to be about the size of a walkman and use 21 gauge needles. Thanks.

Welcome to our community!  Your joining would have made Epoman very proud. You are very welcome.  I obviously don't have to sell you on the site, since you have known it for a while.  I would just ask you to please post and let us get to know you.  This site is for anyone who has anything to do with the challenge of renal failure.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

No it does not, it is my dogs name.
Flip- I wish I had the ability to produce something like that for you and everyone else, I only work in the office part of the business, but I do know that company's all over are trying new ways to minimize for renal patient's with the best effects. So far what I have learned is that Nocturnal is the best way to go for the patient, I know it means longer treatments but slow and easy has proved to make the patient feel better. (As much better as they can).

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Lost vision due to retinopathy 12/2005, 30 Laser Surg 2006
ESRD diagnosed 12/2006
03/2007 Fantastic Eye Surgeon in ND got my sight back and implanted lenses in both eyes, great distance & low reading.
Gortex 4/07.  Started dialysis in ND 5/4/2007
Gortex clotted off Thanksgiving Week of 2007, was unclotted and promptly clotted off 1/2 hour later so Permacath Rt chest.
3/2008 move to NC to be close to children.
2 Step fistula, 05/08-elevated 06/08, using mid August.
Aug 5, 08, trained NxStage and Home on 9/3/2008.
Fistulagram 09/2008. In hospital 10/30/08, Bowel Obstruction.
Back to RAI-Latrobe In Center. No home hemo at this time.
GOD IS GOOD
