I know some of you have had these and i might possibly end up having one now , so whats involved? How long does it take ? Did it make a difference and how quickly ?  :2thumbsup;

I've only had three total and they were a long time ago.  They hooked the blood up to my D machine and it dripped in slowly as I recall it.  I felt better the next day.

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

My Dad had some, it takes between 3 and 4 hours per unit, they have to keep an eye on your BP as it can push it up if it goes too quickly.  It was just hooked up and dripped in as Monrein has said.  Unfortunately it didn't make any noticeable difference to him but he has lots of health issues, I hope it will make a difference to you - and quickly  :grouphug;
