Yeah it's really me!

« on: August 20, 2008, 01:45:08 PM »

What's up everyone?

I guess I need to introduce myself. So for those of you that are interested my name is really Frank.I have been a dialysis patient since Halloween day 2006 after being a diabetic since I was 17, I am now one year shy of 50.

I have been married for 30 years to my first wife, we have 3 kids. My son is 30 and I have 2 little girls, one is 35 and the other is 24.

I have 2 grand daughters, #1 is 2years and #2 is 11 mos.

I "retired" due to my CKD and because I could. I felt too crappy to the point where I could not do my job well, so I went out on disability and after about a year I started feeling better but then I started watching grand daughter #1 so my daughter could return to work after her maternity leave. I decided i didn't want my grand daughter going to day care and being watched by strangers. So I decided to become the day care and stay retired. I love it. It's a do-over for me because when my kids were growing up I was working like a dog and missed out on alot of stuff.

I am on the transplant list for a kidney/pancreas at Loma Linda U.M.C. here in Cali. been on for 2 years and am slowly but surely moving up.

That's about it for now, I'm doing well and happy.

Welcome to our community, Frank!  First of all, let me tell you that name is very important to me.  My father, brother, a nephew, a great-nephew, a cousin are all Franks!
You have come to the right place - a caring and sharing group of people who understand exactly what you are going through.  This is a place for information, support, fun, a place to vent, rant, rage or rave.  Just read a lot and post a lot.    I love that you are a granddad caregiver.  I can just imagine the love your grandkids have for you.  Looking forward to hearing lots from you.

 :welcomesign; Frank.  You're intro (married 30 yrs to my first wife) reminded me of a friend who always introduces her (one and only) husband as "this is Dave, my first husband" - she says it keeps him on his toes.  :rofl;
