Local Docs, Surgery, Transplant = to many peas in a pod!

I had knee surgery scheduled on May 30 for June 3. Things were going smoothly between local internal doc and knee specialist till admissions called. For preadmissions, we were going over all my medical and surgery history, then medications. The nurse then wanted me to not take my morning dose of meds till after surgery, which would be about 5 hours (includes recovery time). Told her I can't do that, I can do tat with some meds, but not three of them. She asked me why and the first thought that popped into my head was wtf did we just go over about my medications. So I explain again why I need 3 of my meds at a certain time wit some leeway. Then she wanted me to take my morning dose of blood pressure medication Monday night at 6 pm. Well hello Mc Fly, anyone home? I have a night dose of blood pressure medication also. Trying to make me feel like crap before I get there too? Then the last med she wanted me to stop was my aspirin that is given for my pancreas. At that point I said I have to call my doctor to see what they recommend. With it being Friday afternoon, I'm not going to get a hold of anyone in time. Well the first doctor who returned my page was my local nephrologist, who got in an uproar about having surgery without going to my transplant center. Well my transplant center is useless when you need to ask them a question, but she wanted to talk to them on Monday. So on Monday I see my local nephrologist, who got the transplant center on the phone on forever hold and in contact with a doctor who specializes in knee repair. Now I am on forever hold with this doc at my doctors office. Well the discussion between these three doctors has the surgery postponed till I see the doctors associated with the transplant hospital, which means everyone is getting their hands on insurance money for no apparent reason.

Good lord...the whole ordeal sounds like a really bad comedy routine.  So frustrating and imagine if you weren't on top of things and relied on these people to keep track of all the details.

OMG, Chris, what a nightmare -- SO frustrating.   Hang in there, and I hope you get your knee taken care of soon.  Please keep us posted.

Lost count of how many idiots are involved with this one! Well today's idiot doctor told me he will not operate or give me a cortizol (sp?) shot due to the risk of the transplant. ARRRRGGGHHHHH! Why couldn't you just say that over the phone. He didn't say   it was a reaction of the med to my immuno meds, but due to the insertion of a needle. What a useless day spent in Chicago, plus this doctors office along with a few others from the hospital is in the Playboy Building. When the cab dropped me off and I saw the sign on the building, I thought he dropped me off in the wrong area. There was no address on the building either. I went inside to look around and in the main lobby they had the address posted at the elevator, arrrggghhhh! Crap that was frustrating. This doctor didn't even test my walking phase correctly, geesh! In this small room, all I could take was 2 and a half steps, not enough to show a gait cycle. I hope I don't go thru the same ordeal with the back doctor next week with this hospital, bt I feel I will go against his recommendations and take a baby step with the cortizol shot the local doctor was willing to do before I decided on surgery. Time is running short with school starting and I want to have the most amount of time for recovery and still be able to graduate next year.
