Hey, I'm wondering if anybody out there may be able to help me.  I have a deadbolt lock that is stuck in locked position.  I have tried unlocking it from the outside with the key and from the inside with the little handle, but it will not budge.  I sprayed some graphite in there and then some silicone lubricant -- No success.  This is my front door, which is a bit inconvenient, as I have to run around and raise the garage door just to get the mail or talk to a neighbor.  So, if anyone has any advice, I would welcome any and all suggestions!  :thx;

Maybe try lifting the door by the handle, as the weight of the whole door may be resting on the bolt, this happens when buildings settle on the foundations, or humidity changes.

You could try Gigaloo (sp?) as well as Karol's suggestion.  It lubricates and may help.

Thanks for the replies. It finally came unstuck, for no apparent reason -- I was doing the same pushing, pulling, and jiggling that I had been doing all day.  Then it almost immediately got stuck again, but this time the door was open.  It gets stuck only in the locked position, I think.  I'm going to leave it unlocked for the time being (we have a security screen door also) until we figure out what to do with it.  Time to replace the lock?

My deadbolt sticks this time of year too, though it doesn't actually get stuck for good. I just have to try harder.
I thinks it's due to the house settling around the door frame. It gets better again in a few weeks maybe when things dry out more.
However, having a deadbolt stuck can be a very dangerous situation. Should an emergency occur you would want to exit from any door
quickly. So try not to leave it that way for very long. You may need a locksmith. Best of luck and I hope you resolve the problem soon.
