What the heck were you doing next to the Ostrich?

It was at a fauna gardens/park. The ostrich is behind a fence, but he was still an awful lot bigger than me! lol.

i used to do mine, but i'm just too lazy to do it any more. being a red head i had to be careful. if i used a red dye everyone said "oh you did your hair, it looks nice" never mind the fact the color was an exact match to when i was in jr high. however i discovered if i used a blond dye, my hair still came out red, but it was the more muted color i was as a young adult. now i'm just gray.

Until I got to college, my hair was very blond. It was almost bleach blond when I was little. The older I got, the browner it got, so now I dye it blond. My hair is so thin, that when my roots are showing, you can see my scalp a little and I look like I've got thinning hair. I would really like to have my hair professionally cut and colored (back to my natural color), but I just can't afford it. That, and every hairdresser I've ever been to, has never known what to do with such thin hair and have always butchered it!

I can't afford a hairdresser either, considering how long my hair is and the fact that I colour it every 4-6 weeks. I have to do it at home.

I only did it once so far, and it was last month. I got blonde highlights... it looked good even though I got the wrong haircut :lol;

When I first started going gray, I used the "For Men Only". Now I've switched to Rogaine and don't worry about the color.

Oh...where do I start. I've gone back and forth to having hairdressers do it and doing it myself. I cut, color, and perm my own hair. Right now it looks great, but I've been through a few trials from both salons and my own doing.

One problem I have is using gold or warm type colors. My hair looks ashy gray. I have to stick to natural color. Now I use Loreal Preference 9 1/2 NB. It is fabulous!

I will quickly detail a few horror stories.

salon: wanted gold with brighter highlights. when they took the towel off I kind of said Oh that looks so dark. Then they blow dryed it and with the highlights it didn't look bad, in that light, without my glasses on, without looking real close in the mirror (ladies - look close before you leave!). I was wondering why the girl was rubbing so hard around the outline of my scalp/face area. Well, when I got home I could see that even on my face there was a dark color from the dye. My hair looked lifeless and muddy! I cried. I called them and told them they had to fix my hair. I had to take the day off of work! I was there for 4 hours the next day! They got it to look a bit better but it was looking orangy then. so I didn't go back there for a while.

went to a different salon for the next treatment. Ashy again. went back again. scrubbed at my hair trying to get it brighter. never went there again.

started doing it myself but decided 'I want to treat myself.' (how quickly I forget!) go back to first salon but to different girl (who had done my highlights beautifully). After the last root job that was muddy looking and leaving stains on my face again, I figured I am doing it myself. It will cost $10 not $55 and I can grab a box whenever I want to get the roots. She made me wait so long to get my roots done I finally called her up a week before my date to come in.

Now I will stick to Loreal Preference 9 1/2 NB and just do my roots (and pull through last 5 min).
