If you have VA coverage and its service connected you can get additional moneys from "The Man".

I got my transplant back in august and I'm doing Freaking GREAT! But Today I'm doing even better! I applied for "aid and assistance" through the VA back in December of 2006 and I JUST got a letter saying I was DENIED!  >:(

I figured I would get denied, but I tried. That particular program is for bedridden people or people that need help at home. I was doing home hemo at the time and thought my wife deserved some compensation for having to serve me all the time while I was hooked up. so I tried.

Anyway, at the same time the VA did say I was approved for HOMEBOUND! That basically means I am tied to my immediate vicinity. "I didn't tell them my machine was portable! (semi-portable anyway.. hahaha)" Long story short I'm getting back pay from December 2006 for about $350 a month! And since I'm still within 6 months of my transplant, I'm still considered to be recuperating and I get the payment up until this month! thats 14 months x350! approximately 5k for those that cant do math.. I had to use a calculator..

Anyway I just wanted to let everyone know that you can get that if your getting money from the VA.

PS. to anyone who helped me with my tattoo contest a while ago.... I WON! Thanks for the support! :yahoo;

Yeah, Jaybird!!  I am so excited about the back pay! With two little ones, there is never enough extra money!  I am also glad that the transplant is doing so well.   And congrats on the tatoo contest---you had my vote! :thumbup;

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Glad to hear good news.  Extra $$$$ for us always good.  Way to go with crunching the number.
