GOSPEL GREAT DARYL COLEY NEEDS KIDNEY TRANSPLANT: Singer needs financial support to get life-saving procedure.

As many in the gospel community have been made aware, Daryl Coley is currently battling diabetes and has been for the past 17 years.

Consequently, the disease has caused traumatic and extreme damage to his health in other areas, namely, his kidneys. He is currently undergoing weekly dialysis and only has 17% functionality of his kidneys. Moreover, doctors have advised that he is in need of an immediate kidney transplant in order to preserve his health and save his life.

The cost of the kidney transplant has been earmarked at $250,000. This is for the procedure alone!! This is not inclusive of hospital costs; medication needed pre- and post- operation, finances to sustain his overhead during his recuperation time or any other financial obligations he might incur during this process.

Therefore, we are reaching out to YOU, our gospel community, friends, and supporters. We are asking you to assist us in costs relative to this surgery. We are asking each church congregation to give a love donation of $1,000 to aide in these exorbitant costs; however, any and all contributions will be appreciated. We are also asking our individual friends and supporters to assist us financially in whatever ways possible.

Please contact Clyde Williams at 619-822-0407 or playdmg@sbcglobal.net for directives on forwarding all donations.

Donations may be sent t

"Yet I Worship," Daryl Coley's thirteenth solo project will begin production immediately following his recuperation and has been targeted for completion in Spring 2008. We are hosting a writer's contest to select songs which will be included on the upcoming project. So, we are reaching out to our aspiring gospel writers to dig deep and reveal your stored treasures.

I sent an email to the author of the article:

I just read this article and was shocked at the plea for money. In the USA all dialysis patients qualify for Medicare, as well as transplantation. The patient should incure no expenses except for a very modest amount, if any. The transplant and medications are covered. So unless Mr. Coley is either an undocumented immigrant or a convicted felon, he should get the same benefit available to all US citizens. Of course, these items are NOT covered by Medicare: "finances to sustain his overhead during his recuperation time or any other financial obligations he might incur during this process."

Received today:

Ms. Franks,

Thank you for your concern.  I am Pastor Coley's
Oldest son.  Here is the history so that you can be
completely clear.  Pastor Coley has been ill since
2004.  When the symptoms began, they where not able to
diagnose what was exactly happening to him.  During
this time he was still struggling but traveling to
minister.  Unfortunately many artist that minister to
us and uplift our spirits don't have insurance.  Once
you have loss of vision from diabetes, it becomes even
harder and more expensive to maintain insurance.

So, for 2 years I personally worked on getting him the
assistance that you spoke of in your message.  Because
he wasn't diagnosed there are insurmountable hospital
bills from 2004 to 2006 when he started dialysis.  In
2006, they accepted him, then dropped him.  I sent the
same paper work to the Government agency on 4 or 5
different occasions.  They lost it.  There were 3
different social workers.  When it was reinstated,
they only payed certain bills.

Also during this time from 2004 to 2006 he was in the
hospital all across this country almost every 3 weeks
like clock work.  As the one that went through this
with him, my goal is to help him to recover from all
of that financially as well as not get to the time of
the transplant and they say that he is dropped from
qualifying for medicare again or that additional paper
work is needed.  Honestly Ms. Franks seeing years of
what seem to be near death experiences with my dad, it
has been absolutely frightening.

I you have shared your information, please share this
information to those with which you shared.  I pray
that you understand.

Regards,

Clyde
