 :welcomesign;  You have found a great site with a lot of information, but most of all, caring people who truly understand what you are going through.  Ask any questions you have, someone will have and answer.  Take care of yourself during all of this. It seems like you are both are having a tough time and it must be overwhelming.  We are here to be a shoulder to lean on.  Again, welcome.

Thank you all for the great welcome.
Jim is on Hemodialysis 3 times a week for 3.5 hours each time.
We are holding up pretty well. He doesn't remember most of the time he spent in the hospital since he was in ICU for 45 days
on a vent and pretty much in an induced coma. The rest of the time was in acute care and since Nov 1 he is in a skilled nursing
facility - We are only in our early 50'S.

Oh Lordie. I know how it is to have hubby in the hospital.  I hope you are taking good care of yourself.  Welcome to the boards.

Thanks for taking the time to join IHD orphans_mom,

And a big welcome to you. I'm sorry your husband has been in the hospital so long. It's hard on the whole family I know. Hopefully you may find a little comfort here at IHD. If we can help in anyway please don't hesitate to ask.

See ya in the forums.

Welcome to our community!  I am so glad that you found us at a time like this.  This is a very challenging time that you are going through and it is good to have caring people go through it with you.  And that is what you will find here.  We have become a family, so don't hesitate to let us know how things are going with you.  We have been through ALL kinds of experiences here and we really understand.  Our caring thoughts and prayers are with you and Jim at this time.   :grouphug;

:welcomesign; orpans_Mom,

You have come to the best site for information and support. I can relate totally to your story. My husband spent 6 months in the hospital. 45 days induced coma and died a couple of times. He too lost his kidneys and went on hemo. We trained for home hemo in 2003, and he received transplant on 9/7. We are still having some problems, but things are slowly improving.

We are here for you and everyone here will tell you to take care of yourself. It is easier said then done but you need rest and support. Please post often and I would be happy to talk to you. My husband and I are also in out 50's and life has changed so much for us that most people don't understand (except IHD family).

Take Care

Early 50's?  Well then I'll say welcome kids it's good to have you as part of the family.  We older folks like to see young'uns in our midst.

Please take care of yourself as you care for your husband.  I was ill for an extended period of time and I was more worried about my wife than I was about myself.  I would have my daughter or a friend take her out to lunch so she could forget our situation for at least a few minutes.  When I got home, an afternoon for her at the hairdresser just made her day!

Welcome, and all the best to you and your husband and you muddle through this difficult time. Let us know what information we can share that would be helpful, or feel free to use this space to rant and rave...most of us have at some point or another.

Take care...
