If you're using Microsoft Word, go to "File" and "New" and it should give you several options of what type of document you want to create, and one of those should be a resume. You choose which layout you like, then just fill in the blanks with the jobs you've had, duties, dates, etc.  Just highlight and delete fields you don't want to use just like in a normal Word document. Good luck!

A great deal depends on what type of job you are applying for.  Technical positions like computer programmers or scientists may require a particular style while sales positions require another.  Here is the address of a web site that may give you some direction.

http://www.howtowritearesume.net/default.aspx

The site includes hints as well as an on-line resume builder.

Goofynina, sending good wishes--hope you get the job.  Your personality will definately win them over. You are just the same in person as you are online; sweet, kind and caring.   Keep us posted.   Good luck :2thumbsup;

We have "Women at Work" in Los Angeles and they provide free career services http://www.womenatwork1.org/ - Jenna is going to go there-  do you have anything like that up near you? Perhaps you can contact someone through that website and they will refer you to a similar agency (preferably a free, non-profit) - good luck!

This is what I am using as I am searching for a job also.  http://nashville.jobnewsusa.com/jobseeker/login.aspx when you put your information in I think it will automatically produce a resume to use. Check it out. I haven't used it yet so I could be wrong. Just trying to help. Anyone else use this site for building a resume'?

This is kind of off topic because it is about "me" but I applied for a job at Bel Air Grocery store to be the lady that hands out samples.  I mean how complicated can that be.  I didn't hear anything so I went back in and ....  I didn't pass the personality test!  I just told the truth.

"Do you feel that you have a bright future?"   Well, hell NO I don't feel like I have a bright future!

So I told them to "Go to Hell" and sealed the deal.   >:D

 :rofl; :rofl; Rerun.

I feel better, today I called the guy up that I have been chasing around for the last 2 months about a job. I go in on Thursday morning I think to get started but I will be the nasty guy that serves papers on people and repossess cars and anything people default on. I have much experience on the wrong side, that should help me on this side of the job.

Goofynina hope you have found a way to write that resume'.

Good luck with your new job, Sluff.  My husband is an ex-cop and in 1998 he started his own security company and one of the things he did on the side was serve people.  You have to be licensed with the state I think.

Also, do you know that show "Cheaters"?  He was hired as a local P.I. for one of those shows.  It was when the show just started, maybe even the first season.  I went with him on the final run when the cameras and stuff are going.  It was sooooo fun!!  I stayed in the car, but it was hilarious!   You should look into P.I. work.  It's very interesting.

Have fun repo-ing  :thumbup;  - Years ago, I did that for a brief time for the towing company where I worked as a mechanic, for extra bucks. Most people understand if they don't pay, they lose their vehicle. There were a few who were hard to catch up with, and those who don't hesitate to take a shot at you when you do snag their vehicle. Stealth is the key, worry about the paperwork after the fact. Always be sure to notify the local authorities of the repossession, before you take the vehicle.

Good Luck with your resume Nina!  I like Monster.com for getting tips on resume building, doing well on interviews, etc.  They have a Career Section and a Community Board where people post questions and get help.  It's really cool and has helped me lots of times.  Here's the link:  http://career-advice.monster.com/home.aspx

Sluff - Congrats on your new job and good luck!  That is definitely not an easy job!
