Being a diabetic I like to shop for sugar-free and no sugar added products. I thought we can share with each other what products we've tried and give a review on them.

Here's a list of products I've tried that I like.

-Jell-O sugar-free pudding. I buy the pre-made ones in the refridgerated section
-Dreyers no sugar added slow churned ice cream
-Yoplait light
-Werther's sugar-free original hard candy
-Starbucks skinny latte with your choice of sugar-free syrup
-Popsicle brand sugar-free popsicles

I agree with you on most of those, but haven't tried the Skinny Latte at Starbuck's and never did like the Sugar Free Fudgecicles. The Fudge pops just never tasted right compared to the regular ones. The things I liked that were sugar free when I was a kid are no longer sold such as Sun Flakes which was a Sugar Free frosted corn flakes made by Ralston. Then in the 90's Wal-Mart sold these sugar free candy bars that came in different flavors. It was the first time sugar free chocolate tasted good and that there was a variety of flavored centers. Trying the Sugar Free Hershey's Chocolate though seems flavor is lacking, but the Reese peanut butter cups are ok.

I wish Jello came out with the Sugar Free Pudding in the refrigerated section years ago, the Tapioca pudding is good. Even though I can now have sugar products after my transplant, I can't stand regular soda/pop

Does the slow churned sugar free ice cream taste good? We have some in our freezer.  Hubby bought it.

To me it does, but it's a personal preference type of thing. You'll just have to try and find out. Here Dryers is called Edy's. Same package, different name, same factory and owner. Saw it on the food network when they showed how they make ice cream.

I think so. I've actually tried Dreyer's no sugar added a while back when it wasn't slow churned and I did not like it.

A great diet soda alternative is Crystal Light.  Rob (who is a Type 1 diabetic) loves these, especially the to go packets.  Kool Aid has a sugarfree line also, as does 4C and Arizona.  Lots of great flavors out there.

Right now it's Apple Pie season, so I make ours with Splenda, you can't even tell the difference.  Splenda even has a Brown Sugar out there, but it's half sugar, half splenda.  Still a great alternative.

We even found low sugar Italian Ices.

Thing is though, sugar free can also contain a LOT of carbs, which is the key culprit in high sugars  He just counts his carbs and adjusts his insulin accordingly.

I wonder if the breast milk ice cream is sugar free? I guess it depends on the donor. Maybe I'll ask PETA.

One of my old favorites was Cansfields or Canfields Sugar Free Chocolate Soda and Chocolate Cherry Soda, along with the Cream Soda. Haven't bought it lately since price for a 6 pack is not $4.00

Sugar Free Jelly Belly Jelly Beans are good

Got back from Nebraska. They had Sugar Free Grape Soda by Shasta, so I had to try it. I love it, but they don't have it here. I can't stand sugar soda/pop/carbonated beverage/ or whatever you may call the beverage. I did bring home 4 cans though, but it won't last long.

Sugar Free cool whip is good.. So is the light... Check the carb count though.. I think the light actually has less carbs than the sugar free? Maybe I'm wrong.. I know there are a few things out there that say sugar free and when you look at carb counts, it's about the same as the "real" stuff.

carbs I'm not worried aboout, hard for me to gain weight. I just don't like the corn syrup stickyness like I get if I drink a regular soda. I still use Sweet N Low even though I can have sugar now, but after being a diabetic since the 70's, I can't stand sugar soda or sugar in my coffee.

I like Hawaiian Punch Light. It is not carb free, but it has much much less carbs per serving. I like it as an alternative to water or diet soda.

The thing that gets me with sugar products is the syrupy after effect that it leaves on my tongue and dries my mouth out.  Even after my transplant I still prefer to stick with sugar free products, except chocolate. I guess after being a diabetic since the late 70's, I can't get use tosugaror some lite products. The same is true with the new yellow packet sweetner made from sugar. Forgot the name of it, but thatstuff is gross to me. I'll stick with the pink, blue, and on occassion the original yellow packet stuff, Sugar Twin.
