Did I ever tell you the time when a nurse gave me an IV push of Lidocaine instead of Mannitol for low blood pressure?

IV push of Lidocaine???? what happened??

I passed out, had a GM seizure, and went into cardiac arrest --but was brought back from the brink by a couple of excellent technicians.

Lordy that stuff scares me. My mother was given Heparin for a minor clot in her heart. She suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke within minutes. Never did recover. I've been given it for clogging, and it works. Still makes me uneasy though.  And Zach, HOW in the WORLD can they mistake Lidocaine for Mannitol??? Sure glad you came out okay.

Just curious Zach, what did you do with the unit after all was said and done?  Did you stay?

That incident with the babies dying from too much heparin happened at the hospital I go to. I remember it being all over the local news.

Yes, I'm still there.  And no, I didn't seek any financial redress.  The nurse is gone and the technicians are still there.
