Wade and I.

« on: September 18, 2007, 01:06:55 PM »

Wade had a meeting with his doctor today ...and if they can keep the GBM level at 20 (hes at 24 as of last week, with a few more plasmaphereis' in the next weeks) for 3 months, his doctor is giving him the go ahead to get on a transplant list!

YAHOOOOOOO!  :yahoo;  :bandance;

Now, we just have to fight off those GBMs and we will rock!  :boxing;

Girlfriend of Wade, on dialysis since 5/11/07 and NxStage since 8/20/07. We're hoping for a transplant as soon as his "FGP" is gone!

As for the donor ... we really havent looked into things too much.

I have an incompatible blood type, so i'm out, unless our transplant center will take me. I'd love to give him my kidney!

His mom has a matching blood type, and his father is O. They are both ready to give him a kidney, but his doctor would rather get Wade a young kidney.

We've been slowly putting the word out to friends. His doctor is the head of nephrology at a big hospital here, and it's strange - every nurse, tech, or doctor has told us that since Wade is one of his patients, and he's young, and since his doctor wants him to get a kidney so soon and so badly, he won't have to wait long.

Basically everyone said his doctor gets whatever he wants, whenever .... so who knows. I'd hate to steal a kidney from someone who needs it, but then again, Wade needs one too.
