Donna & Frankie

« on: July 26, 2007, 10:55:57 AM »

On May 17, 2007, My brother Frankie (40)and I (41) began the transplant evaluation process....Frankie's transplant of 16 years failed ....prior to that he was on dialysis for almost 9 years

On May 22, 2007 we found out that I was a match and we both continued the medical evaluation

On July 18, 2007  Frankie had to go on dialysis :(....we were hoping to get a transplant date before he needed dialysis but no such luck :(

On July 23, 2007 I got the news that I was medically cleared and that Frankie was cleared as well......the transplant coordinator told me the date was set for August 14!

Now we wait!

Any suggestions on what to do while we wait?

Thanks!

Donna

Stay healthy, count your blessings, make a list of all the food he will get to eat after that he can't have now, check out the living donors website for suggestions from other living donors who might have better tips!

Sorry I havent posted.....I have been insanely busy......the transplant was postponed because Frankie developed a really bad infection after the stupid doctor messed up putting in his cath for dialysis.....apparently they snipped an artery and it was oozing blood constantly and he developed an infection in his shoulder which later worked its way down to his hand......he was in horrible pain and was in the hospital for awhile......this happeded on our final cross match date  :(

Frankie is now feeling much better and will be on antibiotics until the transplant which is scheduled for September 25th......I CANT WAIT!

I am keeping healthy and positive ......looking forward to giving my baby brother this kidney!
