I can fly!!!

« on: July 21, 2007, 04:28:23 PM »

Dani was started on 5mg Enalapril 1x day and 325mg Iron 1xday she's been on it 2 weeks now and the last few day's we've noticed she is turning into a monster. She is a pretty good kid a little whiny at times but now is all she does is whine and act out and it's driving me crazy, don't know if it's the meds or not. Has anyone had changes like this? We'll ask her what's wrong and sometimes she'll just start crying and say she feels sick but can't really say where. :banghead;

I know iron can make me grumpy and moody when I get it intravenously.  Have her take them another week and see if the mood changes. Sometimes it is the body trying to get used to new meds that makes it grumpy.

The major side-effects of Enalapril are light-headedness and difficulty concentrating, so a five-year-old might have trouble understanding or describing what is going wrong with her, and this may cause her mood disorder.

Sorry to hear of the trouble with your daughter's meds. It's hard enough for us adults to say what's wrong sometimes, I can just imagine how confusing it is for her, and frustrating for you.   :grouphug;

Well just got off the phone with Dani's Neph and he said if the meds had at least stabilized he would try to talk us into trying one more month but her number went up so he said stop the blood pressure meds stay on iron, we will check CBC in 2 more weeks but other then that there's nothing else since we've tried this before with the same results, here protein to creatine was the highest ever :banghead; now we sit back and let Alports take it's course. :'(

Oh Lola, I am so sorry.  You are a fabulous mama and an amazing advocate for Otto and Dani.  Hang in there.
