During dialysis today my dad was told that he had a slow heart rate. The doctor said it can be from his blood pressure medicine. He put in a call to his cardiologist. Does anyone have any info?

I hope he gets to the bottom of this, it could be a medication issue.

Depends how slow it is and his medical history. Did he see the Doctor? I would have it checked out.

Sometimes my heart slows and i need oxygen. They tell me it's from too much fluid. But then they said it was from my BP meds. They cut down on the one and now i feel better.

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.

Some blood pressure medications can slow heart rate.  Beta Blockers (Atenolol, Lopressor, Metoprolol) can do this.  The doctors can adjust these medications to correct the problem.  Also Digoxin can lower heart rate, a digoxin level can be drawn to determine if toxic.  Sometimes patients can just have a low heart rate without blood pressure medications.  Hope this information helps.

Thanks for all the information. My dad spoke to his cardiologist and he is adjusting his blood pressure medicine.
