I couldn't completely drain last night

Can your peritoneal leak out and collect in your belly under your fat layer?
I had some fibrin and used heprane(sp) in last fill bag at 5 pm. At 9pm drain my belly was so extended and hurt. I got out only 1000cc of the 2000 initial fill.  Called the doctor and he said to just cap it off and not to try this morning ,to call office for xray .that maybe the cath had moved;but it is tied down and a big trama is the only thing that would move it and I havn't fallen or anything.

I do have this condition where my tissues stretch alot.(Ehlers Danlos Syndrom) I am wondering if I might have leaked out
Have anyone on PD ever just stopped draing like this and did they fix it?

Yes, it is.  My peritoneum tore and this happened to me.  You need to get to your doctor.  They took an MRI of my stomach to find the leak.  I hope it's just fibrin.  Keep us updated.

Got back from center. Had xray,cath is still in place. Doctor doesn't think it is a leak. Either it is fibrin block OR the peritoneal is wrapped around the cath. If it doesn't drain tonight ,Monday they will go in and see . He said maybe cath will have to be moved.
Nurse put in some stronger medicaton to dissolve the fibrin. Riggt now I am getting some crampimg  in my stomach. Hope this clears.

Good luck.  I've had both the catheter move and get caught in the omentum, that's actually happened twice, and the tear.   All of them required surgery to repair, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for fibrin to be your problem.

I am leaking!
Had a cat scan this afternoon ,after some of the solution migrated to my BACKSIDE! They said I have a small leak. I am to do nothing this weekend and call the office early Mon. and he would set up a time to have a temp. hemo port put in.Where will this be put?? He said I will have to do hemo 3 times a week for at least 3 weeks to allow the leak to heal.I think it is one of those holes the surgeon put in when he put in the cathetar. I have 4 little puncture scars on my belly.
Ok,someone who has had a temp port ,please tell me what to expect. Know the diet on hemo is more restricted,salt,water(liquids etc) Can anyone sort of give me some good advice so I can get a head start on this.

That's what I did.  They'll put the port in your neck, but it sticks out about 3-4" below your shoulder, above your breast.   I was TERRIFIED of hemo, but it wasn't that bad.  It's just really boring.   My diet and fluids didn't have to change at all.   You won't be able to shower while the neck port is in though.

Chicken Little is right. It is BOOOORING. I had to do it for two weeks earlier this year when my tube was replaced. I didnt' worry about changing my diet, heck, my doctor said to not worry about it!! Bring a blanket, bring something to do, and bring some hard candies to suck on, too. Oh, and be sure to pee before you go...you cannot go anywhere when hooked up!!!

I had to do the samething about a year ago with the temp. hook up for hemo.  Make sure you take some headphones to listen to the t.v. 
Also, it you feel anything different or have a funny feeling report it right away to the nurse.  I had a funny feeling in my feet and I didn't report and went home and I had a small stroke that night.  I did recover fullly but don't let any unknown feeling in your body go unreported.

Got the cath put in this past Tues. Had to go to Columbus to get it. Had my first hemo yesterday. Was totally terrified but they were there to calm me. My blood pressure shot up after and my pulse was way too high but it calmed down later when I got some fluid in me. Now I see why I should take a bottle of water.Today I am a little shaky but not as swollen. Can at least make a fist.
They wanted to take off about 7 lbs. Guess they just about did.

   Next time will be better.  My BP was high when I first started too.  It will come down as they get all the fluid buildup off.   I had lost a couple pounds with the drama of the leak, which wasn't initially accounted for in my dry weight goals, once we figured it out my BP returned to normal.    Take care.

I am so glad you let us know how you are!! The first time is scary!  I tell ya, I appreciate my cycler more, now that I've had to do a bout of hemodialysis!!!  Get a tote bag, for your bottle of water, your entertainment, and a blanket too!  It gets cold in there!

Today will be my fifth hemodialysis treatment and I haven't felt this good in years. I felt so good that I went shopping with my husband yesterday. Today I am a little stiff but still feel good. What a difference.

I also saw something in the dialysis area. I have read here where in some centers you are not treated very well by the employees. A man needed some water ,his cup was empty. The nurse took his cup and filled it on the first request. The techs and nurses are wonderful in this center. Hope it never changes.

I'm glad it's going well for you.  Maybe you should consider switching.   The only benefit I got from hemo was my BP ran higher, my test results were the same as on PD.  If you're feeling that much better though, I'd consider it.

Oh how much I am learning from this forum.  I have not been draining few times,  and what i was told is that i dialyze slow, so i was asked to increase time in my dwell time,  that was giving me a total of almost 17 hours in machine,  i did not do it because is absurd to be hook up that long.. then i complaint again of not draining,  this time i was told i am probably retaining the dialysite then advise was to increase the strenght from 1.5 to 2.5 or 4.25.  so confussion is raising.  I keep on getting lot of alarmas at night time (mid-fill/mid-drain) and i just increase time, but changes between cycles...

Have your tried changing positions?  I drain best when laying on my right side, but I fill best when lying on my back.   After dealing with a lot of alarms, I now prop myself with 6 pillows so I'm halfway between lying on my back and my right side.  I also have my head and shoulders elevated, so gravity pushes the fluid towards the catheter.   It's really cut down on the alarms.

  Thanks much for advise chicken i would get bunch of pillows tomorrow,  my wise mother without knowing about dialysis mentioned that to me, yes I do change positions mainly side to side, but I am sure the elevated position would help a lot  makes much more sense now that you have told me.  Thanks million

The latest update. I talked with my doctor today at the center.I told him how well I felt as compared to the PD and he asked if I would like to continue with the hemodialysis. I asked if I could and he said he would get me in to see a vascular surgeon in Columbus OH so he could check the veins in my arms.Maybe there are some deep that could be used,if not,I could continue to use the cathetar and if anything went wrong ,we could deal with it then.
My blood work is all normal and hemo is working very well.
But today a bag on the machine went dry and was not noticed and one of my lines was empty so the filter clotted and they had to take me off 9 mins. early. Other than having a huge spike in my BP and pulse when they take me off ,every thing is good. I still feel good.

I'm glad you're feeling better.  There were several people in my clinic that had been using a neck cath for years.  Use it for as long as you can.

OMG,unknown to me,the doctor told them to take more off yesterday. THE CRAMPS in my legs were awful. I had one in the inner thigh of my right leg and the lower half of the left . My left toes were curling under. THE PAIN!
The tech put back at least 400cc of saline to get them to ease up but I had smaller craps of and on last night.

When they weighed me I was down to 199.9 lbs and I always weigh at any given time at least 205. BP was up this am. I'll make certain they don't do this to me again.

Have appoitment today with surgeon who put in pd cath to have it removed and Fri. will see vascular surgeon about getting ultrasound to try and find veins to access  in arm.

Very unusual,my hemoglobin was down to 10,000 so the nurse said they would be giving me 10,000 units of epo until it came up. Is this commin on hemo?
