I'm Tom, Sharon's caregiver (ESRD, Hemo for a little over a year) We have been studying as much as possible about the NxStage system and bugging her Neph about it since we learned, until now it has not been available through our facilities (Puget Sound Kidney Centers) last evening at the center I happened to pick up the May newsletter and learned that they are bringing it in and starting training in July, I called the home care section this morning and learned we were the first people to respond to it with actual intent to get it going, she took our info and in less than an hour later called back and said that after talking to our Neph we would be the first to undergo the training, both of the staff and ourselves, under a NxStage teacher, we are ecstatic!. they are really moving on this, want us in on this Thursday to check her access sight, (should be just fine, she has a well defined Fistula on her upper and lower arm) and set up getting her on the buttonhole technique, now it is just waiting.........

(Thursday), went in today for initial evaluation of her Fistula, everything is great with it, they will start setting up for her to start on the buttonhole technique, interesting that they want to establish 2 each arterial and venous sights, makes sense to use one sight one day and the other the next, we have to wait until July 7th to start, but she is their first patient to be trained and that is the timetable established with NXSTAGE, so again the wait begins, I did inquire about whatever I might have to purchase, such as weight scale and so forth, but she said nothing would be needed on our part, they will provide everything required for home dialysis (Whew, I had expenditures floating in my head they we don't need right now) thanks to this sight and Epomans  diary of the training, it has helped ease Sharon's tensions about home use, I just know that this will be a great benefit to her improving her overall health.......
