Hello everyone,  My name is Sidney 
Thank you for allowing me into your group. 
I have been a kidney patient for 30+ years and been on dialysis for 28 years.  I have never done home hemodialysis but I have done all the others-hemodialysis-in clinic, CAPD, CCPD and nocturnal hemodialysis.  I had a transplant that lasted for only a short while but it was a nice break from it all, a blessing.

I am on the transplant list but speaking realistically, I have a high PRA so I do not see myself being transplanted. 

I am a female who still works full time.  I like to spend time with my family and friends when I have the energy.  I don’t know about you all but sometimes my spirits can get low and my energy is not what it used to be.

I look forward to reading, learning and having conversation with you.  I hope to also meet others that have been on for a very long time.

Hello Sidney and welcome to IHD !
I can hardly imagine how you have managed 30+ years on dialysis, plus working at the same time, because I became very exhausted after 4 years on dialysis.
I am very sorry that your transplant only lasted for a short while. Hopefully there is better luck next time !
Did your doctors find out and explain to you why your transplant lasted only for a short while?

I am glad that you are again on the transplant list and these days doctors handle very difficult cases of transplant and kidney transplants happen much more often these days, so I am very optimistic for you and keep my fingers crossed.
I very much admire that you can work despite dialysis! When I was on dialysis I could, after four years, only sometimes "do" a little and even when my transplant came along, it still took me quite a time to recover from my years of dialysis=treatments, so I am in complete admiration of how you manage dialysis and work.

Thank you for your warm welcome to the group!  I hope I am posting this in the correct order. 

There have been ups and downs along the way.  I have a strong support network in my family and friends.  I was so happy to find this group.  Sometimes the mental aspect of dialysis can really hurt more than the sessions.  I think we all get tired of the rut especially. 

To answer your question, when I had my transplant I became ill and I was non responsive.  They thought it was the kidney causing the issue and allowed it to reject.  The short of it was that once they found out what was really wrong it was too late and I woke up back on dialysis.

May I ask how old you are, if that's okay?

When your new transplanted kidney began to fail, what were the signs? (testing for a future transplant myself)

It is amazing that you can work! You actually go to work right after dialysis? Or do you do nighttime PD?
