That's another fine TARDIS you got me into Stanley

« on: August 28, 2018, 09:24:26 AM »

I was about to reply to Rerun's post in the "John McCain has passed." thread, however as I was typing it crossed my mind that my reply probably did not belong in an obituary to John McCain, and it definitely did not belong in the "general discussion" area of the site so I have started a new thread in this section, to post my reply.

.... and Palin......I supported them Both.

When you vote for someone you vote because you agree with their policies, so if you agree with Palin you vote for her. That is fine, that is the way you do it, and even if I disagree 100% with you, I respect that you voted for what you believed in, and that is the only way to vote. However Palin is as thick as pig excrement, she does not have the IQ necessary to run a small tin pan country, let alone America which used to be the greatest country in the world.

McCain was an old man, even back then. There was a strong possibility that he would die in office. If he did, Palin would take over. And however much you like her politics, do you really want a moron running the USA*?

Looking back over the election with hindsight (IE since McCain died) I think he would have made a good president. One presenter on British radio described him as "The best president America never had". He lost, and most people think that it was because Americans were so disappointed with George W that they would not have voted Republican even if the only alternative was Vladimir Putin. However I think the point I made in my previous statement played a part. Many Americans will have been thinking "I want McCain as a president, but I don't want to risk getting Palin".

There was also the fact that having tied himself to her he was "taring himself with the same brush", so even if he had ditched her it was already too late.

* Yes, I am aware of the current irony inherent in that question.

If Palin would have inherited the office we would have had a moron for president but 8 short years later we still have a moron for president.   A egotistical moron but a moron never the less any one who could attack McCains service because he was captured in a war the moron was avoiding by faking a medical condition that disappeared after the war was over to say he was not a hero cause he was captured is not playing with a full deck.  A lot of rubbish is being spread about McCain by flacks who should not even be in the same room as a John McCain.  If you believe the crap these morons are spreading check and see I what his fellow prisoners have to say about McCain.

McCain served our country.  He is a hero for doing that.  But, back when he was running for President ... he was called a racist.

Trump, if an idiot, is smarter than Obama.  Obama went and apologized for our country.  Trump goes and says... pay up!  And they did.  Obama let rip off trade go on.  Trump says its not fair so lets get a better deal.  And we are.  Obama let N. Korea go and Paid off Iran.  Trump is at least trying to make our world safer.  We haven't had any N. Korean missiles flying over.  Iran is a mess.  They will both come to the Trump Table.

The economy is good and minority unemployment is down.  If you WANT a job you can get one.  MAGA

The North Korean debacle seems to be going down the tube last trumpian comment is he could restart the military exercises if no progress is made in denuclearization of North Korea. The fact is that he should never have canceled them in the first place.

Yep and critical military exercises were still canceled and a massive amount of unit training was missed, reducing our readiness to defend our ally.

And if Trump would have continued the military exercises you would have argued that Trump didn't do enough to entice N. Korea to change.   WAhhhh  WAhhhh

When Palin said Russia is our most dangerous enemy and she can see them from her back door, every LAUGHED and called her stupid....  Well, she was right.  And go look at a map.

You can't argue with results.

Personally, I thought Palin was great. She was great for Alaska, might have been a big asset to the states. It was John McCain that I never liked. No particular reason that I can remember, but he always kind of struck me as " smarmy"

Actually I have argued from the beginning of this debacle that trump was being lead down the garden path by the NK leader.  For 40 years the NK leaders have promised much and delivered little. NK has delivered prisoners in the past and occasionally remains but have constantly continued a hostile stance against the SK and the US.  The biggest throttle on NK ambitions was the American ability to strike NK nuclear facilities with deep penetrating large bombs developed by Obama’s and previously used to bring Iran to heel.
