I had a pd cath placed about 3 weeks ago, it's been flushed twice and I start training next week.  I have noticed a very noticeable non painful bulge near the exit site.  It is more pronounced when I stand up.  I went to the ER to rule out hernia or abscess, the ER doc said it is probably a hematoma that would get absorbed, but the dialysis nurse says it's probably the cath itself just bulging under the skin around the tunnel site.  So....a couple of probablys and nothing definitve.  Anyone else have a bulge like that?

The PD Cath has 2 cuffs that kinda have a soft surface that your body eventually grows into to keep it from falling out. One is right at the insertion site. I could feel it after about a year but my natural insulation (fat tummy) probably was hiding it. felt like a firm area right next to where it entered. That's my vote.

Good luck on PD. I did really well but got my new kidney last week.
