16 and drain pain

Hi I’m 16 and have drain pain when I use the cycler on PD and the pain is unbearable I also have pain on CAPD which I’m currently using but it’s much much much more bearable. The pain was in my groin and rectum area the pain was in my testicles penis penis head and my bladder muscles would quickly contract. My PD nurse said it’s the way boys bodies are and after 2 weeks it would get better but on Monday when I tried it still hurt and I also didn’t have any fluid in me. My PD nurse said that the catheter is hitting a nerve in my pelvic area and I assume that the catheter is to low but everyone says it’s fine I also have a catheter that circles around like a pig tail. What suggestions do you think I can do or just keep doing CAPD till a kidney comes. Sorry this is so long lol.

Wow, sounds bad.  My drain pain went away, pretty much, after awhile.  But your pain sounds so bad you need help ASAP.  See your doctor, good luck, buddy.

hiya apart from fact i am female i had the same problem when i began PD.It was so bad i didnt want to do it.how ever i found out lying on my right side helped big time and 5years later still find this works for me.If i drain sitting up it hurts,hope this helps

I find the less poop in me, the less problems with pain & discomfort I experience.
For awhile, I was taking one of those white powders "laxitives" daily as constipation was a problem.
My medical professionals preach that a bowel movement a day is very important.

3 1/2 years on PD I learned body position did have an effect on Drain Pain. Only you can find what, if any, position changes may help.

Long ago while still doing manuals I had pain.  All manuals I did sitting.  My PD Nurse told me that I may be able to somewhat 'reposition' the end of my cath during a Fill by squeezing my bag, a very tight hug, raising the fill pressure and flow speed so much that the end of the cath might move.  Similar to a garden hose turned on High so much that the end of the hose would whip around by itself if no one was there to hold it.

It worked for me! 

It may be possible that the cath is rubbing or sucking up against very tender nerve tissue.  Such irritation may eventually cause growth over that area which could insulate it against this irritation.  But this could easily take time.

The body is a marvelous machine and will grow to repair as much as possible.  Again, this takes time.  When in Pain time seems awfully long.

Chronic pain may be dealt with in some cases with meds.  I will not use opiates, they just make me High and do not remove the pain.  Methadone makes the difference, without the negative side effects of the opiates.  The problem is most Dr's will not, or cannot write for this.  You will need to see a Pain Specialist. This could be worth your time to check out if this doesn't resolve soon enough.
