Hello, I am a 30 yo male that will soon be receiving a transplant from my sister. I was deployed down range a year ago when they discovered by way of HBP that my kidneys were functioning at 25%. Since then it has been what seems like a very fast year and we are planning on a preemptive transplant as I am hovering around 15%. It has been a rough road as not only has my health deteriorated but my career is coming to a swift end. I am hoping for some first hand experiences for what to expect post transplant. Thanks.

Welcome to the group.

So far my post transplant life is going good. I was able to continue working an office job on dialysis and return to work about one month after the transplant.  My signature has a link to a tread with detailed updates on my transplant.  I'd classify my transplant experience as going very good, but there still are lots of ups and downs.

Transplant July 2017 from out of state deceased donor, waited three weeks the creatine to fall into expected range, dialysis December 2013 - July 2017.

Well on dialysis I traveled a lot and posted about international trips in the Dialysis: Traveling Tips and Stories section.

Welcome to IHD!

I hope all goes well with the Tx from your Sister, Be sure to give her a big Hug.

Deployed?  Vet part of your screen name, are you still in?

I got out in 75, 40% SC, Legs still attached, just don't like to bend well.  But they're mine so I'm keeping them.

Take Care,

Welcome. Many post transplant threads on here if you search. Hope it all goes smoothly. Big kudos to your sister! Living donors are very special people.
