I'm mid-process in donating a kidney to my wife. Just waiting to hear about the latest test results from the doctors. Just checking in.

I want to also say thanks to the people on this forum. I've really appreciated all of your posts.

This is wonderful news!  Just because your wife now has a new kidney doesn't mean there is no longer a place for you on this forum.  As a living donor, you have a LOT to offer, and of course we could learn a lot from your wife's new post transplant adventures.  So please do keep us posted, OK!

Congrats!  It's an awesome feeling isn't it? (being a donor)

Good luck with your recovery and if you had the same surgery as me (laparoscopic) don't drink any fizzy pop like coke, etc for at least a month.

Home from the hospital now. It’s still a long road but I finally feel like we are walking in the right direction.

May we all be able to keep walking. My thanks to you all.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

BUT WHY DOES RECOVERY FROM SURGERY TAKE SO DAMN LONG? It's been nine days, and I know, big surgery, give yourself time to rest, I get it, and I know I'm lucky that we were able to do this.

But for Pete's sake, I get tired walking up the stairs, and I can't even do laundry. Good thing we have family with us for two weeks, but after that we're on our own so I just hope I'm ready.

Crazy eh?  My surgeon told me that the first month I would just find myself needing to nap just all of a sudden.  I thought to myself, weird that happens to some people.  Won't happen to me.  But then it did, for about four weeks like he said.  I would have to lie down at 1:30 one day, then 5:00 the next day, then be fine one day, back to napping at 3:00 the day after.  I was all over the map.  And I was going to bed at 9pm and sleeping until 7 or 8am daily.

Then it stopped.  All of a sudden I remember thinking hey, I haven't had a nap for a few days now.
