Hi everyone.
My name is Sheila. Back in October, I was diagnosed with vasculitis (spelling?) and kidneys had crashed down to 10%. I was on dialysis three times a week until February when they told me kidneys were at 17%. So I've had the Tenckoff tube put in and will soon be able to do my own dialysis at home. I live in France, and so have struggled to understand the medical jargon, etc. So I'm hoping there are some kind souls on this Board to help me along and I apologise in advance if I ask "stupid" questions. Thanks and look forward to corresponding with you.

La belle France! How nice? Whereabouts in France do you live?

Welcome to ihd, Sheila! Sorry about your situation. Ask as many questions as you can because the more you learn now the sooner you will get the hang of things and feel better. And good for you for choosing home-D! You WILL feel better!

After more than 150 days of being hospitalized with complications from Diabetes, my beloved husband's heart stopped and he passed away 06-08-21. He was only 63.

It's good to hear that you are starting on PD instead of the more usual choice of Hemo. I am quite happy (if happy is a good word for our state) with PD. It's a drudge, but it does a good job without a lot of food and fluid restrictions. I wish you well.

Hi Sheila, and Welcome to our IHD 'Family' of the afflicted!
You should do well on PD as long as you remain very careful with clean hands and open fittings.
Take Care,

Hello Sheila Welcome to the site.
As to asking "stupid" questions, that is impossible - because no question is "stupid". Ask away.
