My understanding is that when you donate a kidney you get priority on the “list” if you ever need a kidney in the future. Has anyone ever heard that if you smoke or have a drink again after than this priority is taken away from you?

Kidneys are allocated by a point system under UNOS.      Candidates get one point per year (pro-rated by # of days), as well as 4 points if they are a prior living donor (I think you get credit for liver lobes as well).

Start reading on page 83: https://optn.transplant.hrsa.gov/media/1200/optn_policies.pdf

No idea on the smoke/drink thing, though an MD told me 6 months ETOH free for a liver.
