Hey.  Just wanted to say hi and let everyone know that I am now on the list.  As there was a lot of testing and stuff I had to do first, this feels like a big deal and a first step to a new tx, so I wanted to share some good-ish news for a change.

I don’t think other people uunderstand that u don’t automatically get listed for an organ just bc u need one, that it takes a bunch of testing and reqts first.  And it feels weird to be happy during such a shatty health thing going on, but at least it gives me some hope.

I got an new Apple Watch as a gift from my parents, and it makes me feel more secure that I won’t miss a phone call.  I know that realistically I have many years to wait for a kidney, but u never know...

I hope my brother is still considering donating.  Things are already weird between us as we r not that close, so I am trying to not make things more awkward.  My friend was like “of course ur brother will donate, he’s ur brother, and u could die!”  But if that were always so then the tx list wouldn’t be so long.  And I want to make sure I don’t inadvertently make him feel some sort of pressure to donate.  Although he was the one who offered, I fear he will change his mind.   I feel like bc I’m not that sick yet ppl don’t see it as a priority.  But it’s my life so it’s pretty up there for me anyway.   I really want to do this preemptively before needing dialysis if at all possible.

Anyway, I am one step closer to a transplant! I am on the list!!   Hopefully until that happens my 29 year old cadaver transplant kidney can hold on a bit longer.  My dietician put me on a restrictive diet to try to buy me some time.   It’s hard to follow but hopefully will help some.

Anyhow, hope everyone is doing okay.
Take care.

Whoever said "God does not make mistakes" has obviously never seen the complete bog up he made of my kidneys!
