I was setting up my NxStage System 1 last night at 6:30PM and got a 502 error.  Customer service confirmed that error is shorthand for f.u., and had a machine shipped from NY and delivered to me in the Boston area today.

The machines are allocated 4000 hours between swap out for preventative maintenance, and I managed to get a bit over 3500 hours out of that one.

The service was great arranging a delivery on a Sunday, but this experience would make be reluctant to take the cycler on a cruise or to an area outside the service area (I know one patient who takes hers to Mexico) unless I was traveling with another person on D who had a system for mutual backup.    This makes me wonder if Bill Peckham ever found that NxStage traveling partner for his Antartic cruise.

AAARGH!!!!!

The new cycler worked, but when I went to bed I noticed that the fan makes a loud humming noise even when it is turned off.   New cycler on the way.

O Simon I'm very sorry for you  :angel;
There is a huge difference in noise production per machine, I totally agree.
Several times I came close to trying to throw the whole d..d machine out of the window  ;D  it's a silver lining that it would be physically impossable. But than again, I mentioned that to tech support, and the next day I had a new one. Very quiet.

Good luck, Cas

We've had the same cycler since we began at home....but I've replaced the pure-flow 3 times....it's a PIA, but it's so much easier than hanging bags!  Our cycler is fairly quiet, but the pure flow sounds like an old washing machine!  Some are quieter than others.

My second Liberty PD cycler sounded like it was steam powered. I had to keep the TV on all night to drown out the noise just to be able to sleep.
