 :sos;
Hello. I'm a caregiver for my husband. Hemo for 4 1/2 years and now CAPD since April of this year.
Not much problems so far, other than the usual ones.
BUT .... now, it's taking an hour to 2 hours for a drain/fill exchange! #
There isn't any pain, no infection, not even fibrin in the drain bag!
What could be the cause of this??
We have done the troubleshooting for clamps, pinches in lines, stc.
Can't seem to figure it out.
Any feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks so much.
It's starting to make him crazy. 2 hour exchanges are unnecessary! Especially without using a cycler.
 ???

Hello honeysuckle417,
unfortunatley I can't give you any practical idea
but I want to send you my good-luck-wishes
and I do hope you and your husband can sort this out as soon as possible.
What do the doctors and dialysis-nurses think about this problem?
Best wishes from Kristina. :grouphug;

Do you have a dialysis nurse you can ask? When my daughter drains slowly, they usually suggest it could be related to constipation. It doesn't sound like fibrin, but maybe you are missing something. I have seen fibrin in the tube that isn't visible in the bag (breaks up I guess). I don't have any ideas besides that, unfortunately. How long did the exchange take when things were working?
