Going through life tied to a chair!

« on: May 06, 2015, 12:25:02 PM »

When I leave for treatment I put Tia in her big crate with a little bowl of water, a snack, her warm rice bag and her bed with a blanket and .... this fluffy bathrobe that the neighbor girl gave her.  Tia loves the bathrobe.  But... I came home and she got her head stuck in the pocket and could not get out.  Her nose was stuck in the corner and she was just hog tied.  Thank God I came home 2 hours early... I really think she would have suffocated.  When I got her out... she went nuts.  She sneezed for about 5 minutes and was running around telling me off as best she could.  I feel horrible.  The Robe is in the trash and I replaced it with a normal blanket.

Hello Rerun,
I do hope Tia recovers well from the shock and I am very sorry what you both had to go through  ...
It is just one of those unfortunate accidents which could not even be considered beforehand...
and  I am glad that nothing else happened, except that the Robe was thrown away and the two of you recover from the shock ...
...This reminds me of the time when I collected unwanted pet-birds so that they could enjoy a better life in a volière (bird-house)...
but one day I made the mistake that after cleaning the tree-branches in the volière, I rubbed them with a little disinfectant ...
... unfortunately this was the wrong thing to do and some of the birds took it very badly... but I did not know at the time
and I threw the disinfectant away and made sure never to use disinfectant for the tree-branches in the volière again...
Best wishes to you both from Kristina. :grouphug;

Your story reminded me of what happened one time in my childhood involving a cute new puppy dog I had. It was naturally inquisitive and while I wasn't looking, it stuck it's little head in a glass jar that was on the back verandah. Luckily I found it while it was still playfully trying to shake off the jar from his head! I pulled it off and then went into shock when I tried to imagine what would have happened if I had not found the puppy in time. That was a close call.

Glad to hear that everything was okay with your cat as well!  :clap;

Glad your fur baby is okay. There are so many things we have to think of to keep our babies safe. Just because they may like something doesn't always mean it's safe for them. I remember how one time our dog (before he passed) came and sat down in front of me and seemed to just be staring at me. At first I thought he was wanting a treat but no, he was looking at me with a strange look on his face. I looked more closely and saw that the poor thing had a thumbtack stuck in his lower lip. A thumbtack! That's why he was staring at me so intently, he was trying to show me. I carefully removed it, gave him lots of lovin and after that I was paranoid of thumbtacks.

Maybe next time someone wants to give you an old bathrobe for your fur baby to use, cut off the sleeves and pockets...oh wait. That's a blanket. Nevermind....
