i love my dialsysis center!

I started dialysis  2 weeks ago at West Coast Dialysis in Long Beach ca. I was amazed at how caring all of the techs are.
the first day my tech told me she loves all of her patients, even the grumpy ones. The second day I show up she says "I love you this morning!"
It was odd because it was sincere and not uncomfortable. From what I have seen of the other techs they are just as caring buy perhaps not quite as verbal.
I really don;t have anyplace else to compare this to but I can't imagine there are too many other places with the sense of family West Coast has.
that's really all I wanted to say.Not digging the dialysis thing, but I could see where it would be a nightmare without a quality sta

Don't think my Dialysis Unit liked me much when I was grumpy  !!!!
I was at a very small unit with only 5 chairs so could be a bit claustrophobic sometimes.
You must have struck lucky!

i and welcome Ts.  I love my center too  - Queens Hospital in Romford, UK. Great staff and great bunch of patients on our shift. We have a laugh and try to help each other.

I love my center also!  It's an independent center, the techs and nurses are great.  We have individual TV's and wi-fi.  Last week, I had an infilitration and I had 2 techs and 2 nurses at my chair for about 45 minutes.  Everyone is very, very friendly and helpful.  I am really lucky!

I go to a DaVita Center in Central Florida (orlando area). 

My center is FANTASTIC!  It is clean and the staff is very dedicated and friendly.  We have individual TV's and also WI-FI for those w/ laptops.  Every once in a while, someone brings in a DVD and we all watch it together.

I am being treated at Dialyspa, a new center in Houston, and I am very pleased with the center.  The owner is a doctor who is on dialysis, and it shows in their concern for patient comfort.  The patient treatment chairs are heated recliners with an individual television/internet touch screen.  The color scheme is relaxing and the lighting is indirect so you can sleep during treatment (I never do--I am too restless when asleep and would not be able to keep my arm still, but a lot of the patients do sleep during their treatments).

The techs are extremely nice and appear to be competent.  I infiltrated during my first session and had three techs on the spot fixing the problem.  Plus they have a tech guy who helps me log onto their wireless wi-fi network when I come in for treatment.

The treatment center is immaculate.  They have a strict non-reuse policy on materials, so I always have a new filter and lines.

I attend a Davita center in PA. The people are very caring. I receive good treatment.

have to say that I'm starting to not enjoy my center so much!  the lady that was in charge of the unit; was 'promoted' to another; so we have a fill-in lady; who runs the local unit down the road; she's running both centers at the same time!  Don't know how she does it; but wish she'd go back to where she came from!  She isn't as friendly; and the staff don't care for her much either!  And the bad thing is; is that it shows that they don't care for her!

I go to a Fresenius center in New Jersey.  The staff is fantastic, but it's a odd center it's half owned by Fresenius and half by a local hospital.  The staff all works for the local hospital in the 20 months I have been there there had been only one staff turnover and she retired.  The junior on the staff has 12 years on the job. 
The staff is both friendly and competent,  while dialysis is no picnic they make a effort to as easy as possible,  and while they don't stop us from eating there is one patient who when he eats moves around in the chair so much he's a danger to disconnect at any time.  So far the center has resisted enforcing a no eating rule.  But this guy may make them change their mind.

I feel very lucky with my dialysis-center. The nurses are not only very kind
but they also take the time to explain everything they do whilst I listen and learn...
All the nurses are very considerate and hygienically very much on the spot
and I always see them cleaning and checking something or someone...
My catheter is always methodically cleaned and disinfected according to a certain procedure before I get on the machine
and after finishing with "you know what" my cath is again methodically cleaned and disinfected after a certain procedure...
and then the cath is carefully dried and wrapped up with tissue and with a clinical tape it is "taped" securely to my body...
Whilst I am on the machine, my cath is again wrapped from the very start with clinical tissue,
so that later on I can enjoy my sandwiches and my food without any fears ...
I like "my" center very much because it treats patients as people and the nurses are always there for us instantly whenever we need them...
I do hope very much that everything continues like that in "my" center, because a center like that 
helps to make it easier for me to put up with my medical situation when the nurses in the environment are so nice...
... and it makes it easier for me to actually go there and arrive in time, when I don't have to have any fears about the nurses or the center etc.

P.S. We also have a TV for every chair/bed, but I prefer to read... at the moment...
