How did you all handle the winter storms?

I've been curious, but kept forgetting to ask. With so much of the eastern US was hit so hard by storms, how did you manage to get to dialysis through storm after storm after storm?

Dog sled and snow shoes, and once on a snowmobile.

In the Washington DC area we mostly missed the snow. The center was closed two days, both not my days, so they brought people in on my day and the day after the closure.  I did cut my treatment short on one evening because the snow was falling heavily but the drive home was ok.  That night and another were out during heavy snow everyone slowed down nicely on the highway to make it safe for everyone.  We did see a cab that couldn't get up a hill on a highway, likely due to bad tiers....

Two years ago I bought a Ariens 14.5 horsepower snowblower.  It goes through the snow like a hot knife through butter.  It even goes right through the piles left bynthe plows where my driveway meets the road.  Plus I drive a 4 wheel drive pickup.  The only problem is I currently live in New Jersey and all,the SUV drivers think they can drive like a bat out of hell in the snow.  Unfortunately they can they just can't stop.

I only missed one treatment, though it was on a Monday, after the weekend break.  I got in that Tuesday, but I was still late getting in.  It seemed that everyone was late getting in that day, though, including the nurses, so it worked out okay.  It seems that the hard part is finding the people who plow out our parking lot.  They know I need to get out, but they still never show up.  They did come that day, though, as soon as they were called.  My mother actually called the city to see about getting our street plowed so I could get to dialysis that day too.
