1990 - bladder built out of colon
2007 - birth of son, gfr fall from 3O to 26
July2011 - birth of prem daughter, gfr 17%
August2011 - gfr drop to 10%
29th May2012 - RECEIVED KIDNEY 4/6 match from my wonderful dad !

It was flagged up on a renal Facebook site, obviously renal disease is not important in the UK or newsworthy!!!

Thank you Iainiepop to bring this paper to our attention.

I have been reading through this paper but I cannot quite comprehend what it is supposed to mean...?
(.... that might be connected with the fact that I am currently having a terrible flu and my high temperature makes my thinking a bit difficult)...
... but I do not comprehend where exactly NHS funding for dialysis is meant to be cut down...?
Is it the time of dialysis for each patient which is being cut down? Or does it mean a cut down on dialysis facilities in Britain...?
Or does it mean that transplants are "being pushed" forward a bit... to avoid dialysis for ESRF-patients?

Does anyone know what exactly is meant by this strange text...?

Does it not sounds a bit like "scare-mongering" ...?

I have just read the article and cannot imagine what this will do to our current system? Will hospitals just stop providing dialysis? And wait for private companies to pop up. I suspect that if it is being done to save money we are in for a bumpy ride and lots of changes. It was kept very quiet, they were supposed to be consulting on this until 31st Dec!!!!
If anyone has any further info please let us know.
It is extremely worrying how they think they can save money on dialysis!

Apparently the CCG is set to take over all UK dialysis from April 2015.....

And there I was thinking how difficult it would be to dismantle the NHS. Self-interest always wins, I wonder who is in all those advisory groups.

Follow the money.  There is no profit in Government run healthcare.  By shifting to privately owned corporate care services can be restricted until the company shows a profit.  Upper management makes bonuses and underhandedly gives 'contributions' to political parties.

While the consumer prices rise until they can not afford services.

Sounds like this is spreading.

Pure corporaate greed.

The general public is too apathetic to bother to get out and vote.

corporate AND Legislature know that, and continue to pass laws enabling massive profit.

Until the public wakes up, and realizes nothing is going to change until EVERYONE gets out and votes,  they shouldn't have any complaints, they allow Corporate, and Legislature to do whatever they want.

I tell everyone this, family, friends, neighbors, co-workers (while I was still working).  Hopefully a few of them take it to heart and start voting, and pass the word on.

I think they should teach some politics in schools to get the youngsters to connect with the law making process.
Just some basics, the history of parliament, the different houses and how laws are made, how politics affects our daily life and to listen to talks by all the parties and debate the good and the bad.
Then they might be more likely to vote.

I used to think that too. I'm 'educated' in the Netherlands, and Politics used to be in obligatory in schools. However the turn out in election is poor. Maybe directness like in Switzerland is a solution?
