Well I hit a milestone I guess. They had me come in early on my last Doctor day so the nurse could replace my catheter extension. So six months have passed since starting PD and so far so good. No infections and they tell me my results are good. Just wish I had more energy and less cramps in my arms, legs and back. Thank you to everyone on this site who have been so helpful and caring. Hope the next 6 months keep going good too.

Well, one step at time eventually becomes a journey and milestones in ones life.

May all  future milestones be of your liking.

I am a caregiver to my wonderful husband,  He is 4p and started PD October 2013. We have several living donors waiting to be tested for a transplant. Dialysis is a bridge to get us where we need to go.
He had a transplant in November 2019.

We are chugging along!  Justin just got an exit site infection so we are a little bummed about that.  It was caught early and he is on antibiotics.  Fluid is clear.  They are thrilled with his clearance and other labs.  We have been referred to the transplant hospital in San Antonio and are waiting on them to set up our appointment.  We are almost at 6 months too.  I am happy things are going well for you.   :2thumbsup;

Well had my second catheter extension swap out last week. Last time they added the new extension then plugged it into the Stay Safe Organizer and put a new cap on. This time same thing until we got to the part where a new cap was installed. She did it free hand without the stay safe organizer and accidentally dropped the catheter in my lap with an exposed pin. Fortunately there was a sterile pad on my lap and thats where it fell. I was thinking Jeez! You beat it into our heads not to cut corners in order to avoid infections and what does she do? Cut corners! I was paranoid still but I have been doing exchanges since with no problems. Next time I will insist on use of the Stay Safe Organizer. It was not my regular PD nurse.   :oops;

Let's not open that 'cutting corners' thing.  My Nurse would physically kick my butt if she found out how bad I am.  But I am still VERY carefull.

My next change-out will be at my Dec visit.  I keep telling my team that I hate wasting their time by coming in as nothing seems to change but my blood calcium.

But she LOVES to stick my site with that steptic swab thing to 'burn the raw area of the site.

So far, NO infections.  I am very careful.  (Knock on wood).
