New Book Published to Aid Traveling Dialysis Patients

Thu Mar 22, 3:01 AM ET

Paperback directory of over 14,000 dialysis centers in 151 countries.

Birmingham, UK (PRWeb) March 22, 2007 -- The 2007 edition of globaldialysis.com, the online directory of dialysis centers, is now available in paperback.

Most people need a vacation now and then, taking time out to relax and a change of environment is essential for healthy living - and dialysis patients are no exception. However, dialysis treatments cannot be missed and one of the hurdles has been to find a dialysis center, close to a destination that can accommodate traveling patients.

Created over seven years ago, Global Dialysis was born out of the frustrations of Russ and Val England at not being able to find accurate information about dialysis centers abroad. At the time, Val was a haemodialysis patient for over 25 years and Russ a computer programmer.

Since then, the website has developed into one of the most popular dialysis related websites worldwide, with over 2.5 million visits per year and almost 1 million page views per month. It is also the largest directory of dialysis centers worldwide with over 14,000 in 151 countries.

However, recognizing that many dialysis patients do not have access to the internet and at the request of many visitors to the website, a paperback version of the directory has also been produced.

The 684 page book contains the contact details for every dialysis center in the directory, as well as a selection of comments and photographs submitted by dialysis patients. There are also tips on booking procedures and required documentation.

The book has been welcomed by dialysis patients, centers, nurses, nephrologists and kidney patient associations worldwide. To date, around 90% of dialysis centers in the UK have purchased a copy and it has also proven highly useful to specialist travel agencies.

Published annually, the directory can be purchased direct from http://www.globaldialysis.com/book.asp or via ISBN: 978-1-84753-236-7.
Regular updates and additions to the directory are also available on the website for download as an appendix.

75.00 for a book on dialysis centers!  Geez make the price so we as patients could afford the damned thing!

Yeah, seems like a good thing to chip in on to share your center. Pretty pricey!

I agree with Karol, if the centers had a copy at the front desk, then you would only have to look up when planning your trip. It may be expensive but what a handy tool.  :thumbup; Of course that would be ok for in center patients.
