Hi all! Great to find this forum. I've been on dialysis for 7 years. Hemo in center, pd at home and now home Hemo. Having trouble sticking myself, buttonholes are established but I can't seem to get blunt needles to work all the time. I was working full time up until about 6 weeks ago. Now I'm waiting for disability to kick in and am also going through a divorce. I filed last month. Got so much going... Have nearly zero support from family and friends. Dialysis nurse and social worker have been awesome! I got served a notice for eviction because I haven't been able to pay all my rent to date. I'm just feeling kinda hopeless. I'm trying not to let my kids see my worry but it's really difficult. Anyone been able to hurry the disability along??

Disability checks often take a lot of time.  If your social worker is worth his/her salt, ask about your rent situation, get a recommendation for action.  You may be able to get an injunction - unless you have realistic alternatives.  I assume you have addressed this with the people who own the place.
If you are in California, you may be eligible for emergency money (GA Program)
As for those blunt needles, I don't know much about that.  I cry when I get a flu shot.
When friends found out that I had cancer, I joked with them.  Very funny.  Then I wiggled my fingers as if I was sprinkling them with cancer.  Unbelievably two of them brushed off their shirts.  Abandonment, sorry to say, comes with the territory.

Hi CheryID, and welcome to IHD.  I'm so glad you found us.  It is hard to push disability along.   Six months is what they say.  They want to make sure you are either really sick or dead.  But once that comes through at least it is some money every month. 

Divorce.... yes been there.  Sorry you have to go through all this at once.
