Hi,
I live in Canada and am newly retired from the airline business after 34 years.
Two weeks before retirement my MD told me I was stage 3 CKD.
I am a 60 year old male and in perfect health otherwise.  I'm not on dialysis
as only newly diagnosed but the very thought of it somewhere in my future
terrifies me.  I hope you don't mind me trying to find answers here as MD's
are pretty useless when it comes to taking the time to explain things.
You are very brave people.
Best regards,
geebee

Your MD sounds useless.

Kidney function becomes impaired for many reasons.  Did your MD happen to tell you WHY your kidney function has declined?  The answer to that question can determine what you can do to preserve or even regain lost renal function.

Are you going to be referred to a nephrologist?

Don't panic yet.  Insist upon being given more information.

Did your MD tell you what s/he plans to do next for you?

    It's great that you joined IHD.  I am sure that you will get a lot of information from the members and since you are only at Stage 3 you may find that you have years to go.   I can say that from experience.  As you visit the site you will find more about kidney disease and you can make a list of questions for your doctor such as type of kidney disease ,  what can you do to save your kidneys  ( diet / exercise )  and  what is his next plan.   Please stay in touch,  I live in Mississauga,  where do you live ?    :welcomesign;
