I Have Good News!!!!

As some of you here may know, I was transplanted almost 2 years ago with a lovely live donor kidney I named Lynette. Lynette was generously and lovingly given to me by a non-blood related relative, Lynn. She is my Dad's cousin's wife. The age for live donors tops out at age 70 at my tx center, so she was able to donate to me at the age of 67. She has always been in incredible health, and even healed from her surgery quicker than most younger donors. She even went on a 2-week cruise 8 weeks after our surgeries!

Sadly, Lynette was injured by a biopsy that was done at almost 4 months out, and she has never been the same since. The best my eGFR has been since is 17 w/a creatinine of 3.2. Because of this, my neph referred me back to the tx center to get me back on the list. I am choosing to remain inactive while my labs are stable and I feel fine.

My tx center has been really easy to work with! They even put me back on the list before getting any of my testing done (doesn't really hurt to do that given that I'm inactive). Today, I met with one of the surgeons. She's new to my tx center since I've had surgery done, but she is obviously very experienced. I was impressed 

So, here's the good news - after having 1 transplanted kidney (from a woman who had 3 kids) and 2 units of blood when in the hospital after emergency surgery due to injury from the biopsy - I HAVE 0% ANTIBODIES!!!!! THAT'S RIGHT - 0%!!!!!                 

As you can see, this made my day. And it's raining and icky out here in the Seattle area, but I don't care! I have 0% antibodies and a tx center that feels bad and wants to do things right next time!!! Works for me (and we are all on the same page that the main goal right now is to hopefully have Lynette for a long time. That can't hurt, right?)

I didn't realize that you were at 17 and that makes me feel sad and mad all at once.  No antibodies though is fantastic news and a great advantage.

I didn't realize you were only at 17% function now, either. I don't "talk" to you very often, but I watch your posts. You're similar to me in age and not that far away, either. That isn't just good news - it's incredible news! I'm sorry you need to think about another transplant so soon, but I bet you're on the top of the world right now.

I am sorry about the GFR but the antibody news is awesome. That means Lynette was a very good match!
Jenna never had any transfusions or pregnancy but the desensitization never worked prior to her transplant (we now know) so she's at 100%. So frustrating!

Wonderful news bout the antibodies , it all Confuses me as to how some people have high and some low despite transfusions etc , So amazing that yours are 0!

And hoping Lynette stays wor King enough to keep u well for a long WhiIe Xx
